Inventory Analysis

It was another strong week for new listings in Emerald Hills, as the number of new listings out-paced the rate of sales.  Consequently, inventory is up slightly as we head into the peak weeks of the Spring real estate season.   Still, we are at a below-average level of homes for sale for this time of year, which should help sellers somewhat.

Fundraiser for Redwood City Schools.

Benefit for a Brighter Future.

On April 30, 2010 the premier fundraising event for the Redwood City Education Foundation will be held at the Peninsula Shores Club.   The “Benefit for a Brighter Future 2010” is the foundation’s major annual fundraiser, and has raised approximately  30% of the foundation’s annual donations in the past.    Last year’s event raised nearly $100,000 to help the Redwood City School District.

More Important Than Ever.

Like many other communities on the Peninsula, the Redwood City School District is struggling to balance an escalating budget deficit.  This year alone, the district had no choice but to hand out 140 “pink slips” in order to shave between $4.7M-13.7M off of their current $78M budget.   The cuts include 82 classroom teachers as well as 17 other specialty teachers.  The result will likely be a significantly higher student/teacher ratio for all schools in Redwood City.

And like other school districts, Redwood City relies on the tireless work of their Foundation to help make up at least some of the difference in budget to maintain the programs and teachers that would have otherwise been lost to the budget axe.   Fundraisers such as these are critical to the success of the Redwood City School District.   For more information on this year’s fundraiser, click here:  Benefit for a Brighter Future 2010.

Activity is picking up in Emerald Hills and Farm Hills as we head into the peak spring real estate season.  Both the number of new listings and the number of homes going pending are on the increase, which is a good indication that consumer confidence is starting to increase ever so slightly.

Technical Difficulties…

Dear Loyal Readers of the Emerald Hills Blog,

Just wanted to let you know that I haven’t abandoned you.  I am having some serious technical difficulties with the website that have been preventing me from accessing the back-end of the site to write new posts.  I literally hacked my way back into the site to post this update.  I hope to have things up and running in a few days, and will get back on track with providing you updates on Emerald Hills real estate.
