Roy Cloud, Sequoia High, and Woodside High School API Scores for 2008

September 05, 2008 By: Chuck Category: Roy Cloud School, Sequoia High School

The 2008 Academic Performance Index (API) scores were released yesterday by the California Department of Education.  The CDE’s website gives a detailed analysis of the scores,  including sections on Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Program Improvement (PI).   If you’re interested in that level of detail, here’s the CDE site:

Accountability Progress Reporting

As far as local schools of interest, here’s how they fared:

  • Roy Cloud Elementary:  877 — down 12 points from 889 in 2007.
  • Woodside High School:  740 — down 3 points from 743 in 2007
  • Sequoia High School:  710 — UP 11 points from 699 in 2007.  Congrats, Sequoia!

For a terrific top-level summary of how all the San Mateo County schools scored, the San Mateo Daily Journal has pubished a nice article that outlines the most common parameters.  Here’s their article:

Sequoia High School presents “Grease.”

March 25, 2008 By: Chuck Category: Sequoia High School

A few months back, I implored you to check out Sequoia High School’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. — especially those parents of high-school bound children who were still on the fence about which school they were going to send their student to. Here’s the original post on this play –> Little Shop of Horrors

If you weren’t able to catch Sequoia’s rendition of “Little Shop,” you missed a phenomenal show. The cast absolutely knocked this one out of the park. With live music, great staging, and a cast of over 100 students (and some prestigious staff members!) they played to a packed house on nearly every night of the run.

You now have another chance to catch the revitalized Drama Department in action. Coming in April, they will roll out their presentation of the Broadway-favorite “Grease.” I’m sure this will be a highly entertaining and exciting show, just as Little Shop of Horrors was. Here is the information on the schedule and contact info for tickets:
